Tate Modern Private Tour

Tate Modern, the powerhouse of international modern art and one of the most visited art spaces in the world. Housed in a converted power station designed by the architect behind the red telephone box! The building is on the bank of the river Thames, boasting spectacular views of St Paul’s Cathedral and the skyscrapers of the City of London.

The power plant may have closed but prepare for some electrifying art on a Tate Modern private tour that will shine a light on some of the world’s most experimental pieces.

Some may shock, some may inspire, but all will leave a strong and unforgettable impression.

Key Attractions of Tate Modern:
-
The Turbine Hall: The centrepiece of Tate Modern. Once the housing for electricity generators; this five-storey tall space is now home to large-scale, specially commissioned art projects.
-
The Natalie Bell Building: Displays in the Natalie Bell Building tend to highlight different artistic approaches from 1900 to present day
-
Mark Rothko's Seagram Murals: Rothko's paintings are simple but very emotional. Some people say they feel calm, while others feel deep sadness. It’s amazing how colours can make you feel different things!
-
Pablo Picasso's Weeping Woman: This painting shows a woman crying, where Picasso has used sharp, bright colours and unusual shapes to express sadness and pain.
-
Henri Matisse’s L’Escargot (the snail): Unable to wield a brush in his dotage, Matisse turned to collage and called it ‘painting with scissors’! He deliberately juxtaposes primary and secondary hues for the jarring effect
-
Andy Warhol's Marilyn Diptych: Made in the months following the star’s death, Warhol combines ideas of finitude and the cult of celebrity by repeating the same image of the starlet with a gradual fade out that hints at mortality as it is contrasted with the acid bright images on the left.
